Manushi Chhillar (born 14 May 1997) is an Indian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss World 2017. She was previously crowned Femina Miss India 2017on 25 June 2017. Chhillar is the sixth Indian woman to win Miss World, and the first since Priyanka Chopra won Miss World 2000.



Chhillar was born in Indian state of Haryana. 

Her father, Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar, is a scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation, while her mother, Dr. Neelam Chhillar, is an associate professor and department head of neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.

Chhillar's Beauty with a Purpose project was Project Shakti. The campaign's goal is to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene.



She started shakti a menstrual hygein awareness due a story from her chilhood. 
Recently in an interview she said "my day care servant had got divorced for three times due to inefficiency of not conceiving. Later my parents took her to a doctor and found there was a fibre in her vaginal tissue. Which was curable. "




Great to know she had adopted 20 villages so far and have taken the initiative.
